Condolences for Club Q from Fountain

Mayor Statement:

Heartbroken does not begin to explain my thoughts and feelings after hearing of the shooting that occurred early this morning in Colorado Springs at Club Q An incident like this affects not only the community of Colorado Springs but the surrounding communities and ultimately our entire nation. This senseless act has left several families without their loved ones which weighs heavy on all of our hearts.  Our prayers are with them, with those who are injured, and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

Situations like this also remind me of the appreciation I have for law enforcement, medical and fire personnel who respond to these horrific events. Their training has prepared them physically but I also understand their training does not fully prepare their hearts or minds for the scene they will encounter. I am thankful for the partnerships the City of Fountain’s Public Safety Department has with surrounding police and fire agencies and I am extremely proud of the Fountain Fire personnel who responded to the shooting when their assistance was requested. I am also grateful for the selfless and heroic actions of the citizens on scene who likely saved many lives.

My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the victims, their family and friends, the first responders, the medical personnel who are providing care to the injured and the entire Colorado Springs community. The City of Fountain stands with you and we are here to provide our support as those impacted navigate this extremely difficult journey.
