The Duckwood Road Crossing Project is part of the City’s Moving Fountain Forward Initiative, and an integral part of Fountain’s efforts to institute a ”Quiet Zone,” reducing train noise within the City.

The Duckwood Road/C&S Road Project will connect Highway 85/87 with C&S Road to the east.  This project is required to complete the Quiet Zone through the City of Fountain.  The City had to build the new railroad crossing at Duckwood Road to increase the distance from the railroad crossing to the intersection of Duckwood Road/Highway 85/87.  While the road has been completed, the City is waiting on the installation of panels, provided by the Union Pacific Railroad and the Burlington Northern Santa  Fe Railroad, which will enable vehicles to travel over the railroad tracks and utilize the newly constructed road.  For more information, watch this brief video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KywPGxUhTKc
