Specific Coronavirus Related Information

SPECIFIC CORONAVIRUS RELATED INFORMATION:

Updated on July 17, 2020:  City of Fountain information regarding use of City Transit Services and wear of face coverings:

The City of Fountain is proud to provide transit service throughout the City and to several other locations in the region. This service is especially important to many of our residents, and their safety and health is our top priority. City transit asks that all riders please comply and wear a mask while utilizing City Transit, and offers the following information regarding the use of City of Fountain Transit Services and mandatory wear of face coverings:

1. Riders are asked to wear a mask while waiting at Fountain Transit Bus Stops. As drivers approach the stop, to ensure their safety and the safety of those already on the bus, they will observe the stop to see if oncoming riders are already wearing masks.

2. At the bus stop, those patrons who are wearing face coverings will be invited onto the bus. Anyone at the bus stop who is not wearing a mask will be politely asked to do so. Patrons who do not have a mask or refuse to put on a mask will not be allowed to board the bus.

3. Riders will be given reasonable time to put on a mask while at the bus stop, and after doing so will be welcomed on buses.

4. If a rider refuses to wear a mask, after a request to do so by drivers and reasonable time to put on a mask, the bus will depart and continue on its route.

5. While on the bus, all riders are asked to continue wear of face coverings. If riders remove masks, they may be reminded to please return to wearing a mask. Riders who refuse to continue to wear a mask may be asked to exit the bus at the next stop.

6. Bus drivers will immediately call for police assistance for any disturbance or situation where the bus driver feels their safety or safety of others may be at risk

Paratransit Information

Paratransit Information

In recognition of the fact that while our system is ADA compliant, there are some riders that have unique circumstances that may prevent them from being able to use the regular system. As such, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 requires public transit agencies who operate “fixed route” systems (such as Fountain Municipal Transit) to also provide complementary paratransit service to qualifying persons with disabilities.

Qualified riders needing Paratransit Service must call Fountain Valley Senior Center at 719-600-2643. Please note that the City of Fountain contracts with Fountain Valley Senior Center to provide Paratransit service for qualifying individuals that are unable to use Fountain Municipal Transit due to their disability.
