All carports require plot plan approval from the Planning Department.

• On June 11, 2019 City Council approved Ordinance 1730 which implemented regulations on all pre-manufactured or “membrane” style carports.

• Any carport that was installed prior to June 11, 2019 has until March 11, 2020 to comply with the new regulations.

  • Carports 200 sq.ft or less, and pre-manufactured, do not require a Building Permit from Pikes Peak Regional Building Department

  • All carports exceeding 200 square feet, site-built and/or attached require a building permit from Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.

  • If a building permit is required, all of the zone district dimensional standards must be met.

  • Carports installed prior to June 11, 2019  are not grandfathered unless a building permit was issued by Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.
