2022 is flying by!

April has passed so quickly and May is already here! Graduation is on the horizon for many of our high school seniors who live in Fountain and I would like to say, "Congratulations!" to each and every one of you and your families on all the hard work you have done to accomplish this goal.

As all our local students and families get ready to have some summer fun, it will be great to see our parks and playgrounds filled with their happy voices, and seeing them having a good time outdoors. I always enjoy driving by the splash pad at Aga Park and seeing it filled with happy kids running around the various features available at that park. Metcalfe Park is kept busy too with skateboarders, baseball games, and other fun ways to have fun under the Colorado sunshine.

We are also so fortunate to have two dog parks in Fountain, one at Metcalfe Park and one the county offers at Fountain Creek Regional Park. Our Parks Board and staff work hard and have many ideas "on the books" to improve the quality of our parks and recreation programs. The addition of the Pump Track Park at Metcalfe Park was one of those ideas recently installed and has been a huge success.

It is also now possible to register for recreation programs or reserve a park space through the new city app on your phone, MyFountain CO.

All these ideas support our Strategic Plan priorities adopted by Council in February this year, that can be found on the city website at Strategic Plan 2022 - City of Fountain (

Strategic Priority: Improve the quality and availability of parks and recreation opportunities, including athletics, outdoor recreation areas, youth programs, and community gathering places.

The various Strategic Objectives identified to be accomplished in support of this priority are found on page 13 of the City Strategic Plan. These plans and initiatives depend on YOU to give input and feedback during our public strategic planning process, before Council adopts the Strategic Plan. Please feel free to contact city staff, myself, or council members to ask questions about our priorities or objectives!

Lastly, council meetings are in person or online and the information is on the website. Children, youth groups, and scouts are welcome to lead the flag salute at the beginning of a meeting by contacting Lexi Lee at [email protected] to sign up.
