Fountain Utilities to Propose Water Rate Increase
Posted on 04/30/2019

The City of Fountain Utilities will soon propose a 4% increase in water rates. The utility performs a water rate study every two years, which coincides with the City’s bi-annual budget process. The study evaluates projected expenses required to maintain and improve infrastructure that is essential to providing reliable and safe water to the community, including capital improvement projects and the delivery of safe drinking water.

If approved, the new rates will go into effect June 10, 2019.  The typical residential customer using approximately 6,000 gallons of water per month will experience an increase of $2.65 per month on their water bill.

City Council will consider an Ordinance for the proposed water rate increase at their regularly scheduled City Council meeting on May 14, 2019 at 6:00pm in the City Council Chambers located at 116 S. Main Street, Fountain, CO 80817.  The public will have the opportunity to speak on this proposed rate increase at that time.
