December Blog: Holiday Appreciation

With the holidays upon us, it’s easy to reflect on all the things that we’re appreciative for.  I thought I would take a few minutes to express gratitude for some of the folks in our community who do such a great job helping Fountain truly reflect our moniker of “Pure Colorado.”

I couldn’t write a blog like this without recognizing all of our Public Safety folks.  Whether it’s the Paramedics and EMT’s who do such a great job responding to our citizens in their greatest time of need, or our School Resource Officers who make such great connections with students, all of our Police Officer, Firefighters, and EMS staff do a phenomenal job day-in and day-out to help make Fountain safe (recently identified as the 16th safest City in Colorado!).

Of course, all of the City staff truly are committed to strengthening and supporting our community and show that commitment on a daily basis.  Fountain wouldn’t be the same without our great Streets crews, our Water crews, our Electric linemen, our Neighborhood Services folks, our City Clerk’s office, our Parks & Recreation teams, and all of the staff who work hard to provide the support needed for success.

However, there are also so many people and organizations in our community who contribute to success.  Patty St. Louis and the Fountain Valley News is a great example of a person and organization who bleed Fountain through and through.  Patty and her team are always so supportive of Fountain as a community and work hard to inform all of us of the “goings on” in our hometown.

Another group that is quietly working to fulfill many unmet needs in our community is the Fountain Community Services group.  A group consisting of representatives from many different service-based organizations like REACH Pikes Peak, Peak Vista, the Salvation Army, the School District, El Paso County, Fountain, and others.  Fountain Community Services and the organizations making it up do incredible work helping to fill gaps for many in our community and I can’t say enough about the great work that they do.

Of course, there are so many others who help make a community and I’m never going to be able to hit on all of them. . . the Chamber of Commerce and their work with businesses; the School District and all the good that they do for our kids; the Citizens who volunteer for our many Boards and Commissions; local business owners who give so much to support various efforts and events in our community; and, of course, those citizens who take their own time to participate and engage in their local government and other local events.

And, finally, all of the volunteers who help provide services here in Fountain. . . from the volunteer firefighters who play such a huge role supporting public safety, to the many volunteer coaches who help the recreation program keep ticking, and everyone in between.  We couldn’t do it without all of you!

I’ll never be able to identify all of the many individuals and organizations that each represent a crucial part of the overall whole, but I think I can speak for all of us in our community when I say that we are very grateful for all that they do and all that they put into making Fountain such a great place to live!
