Cemetery
The City of Fountain owns and maintains Fairview Cemetery, which has approximately 7,000 burial sites. The history of Fairview Cemetery was founded in the 1860's. It was operated by Mr. M.J. Imes and his wife, Mary. The Imes family later turned over ownership and operation of the cemetery to the City of Fountain. The Cemetery contains several monuments and many historic headstones that date to the late nineteenth century. As of 2008, over 1,400 burials had taken place. Three of the historic headstones belong to Tom Ownes, Amos and Mary T. Terrell, and Barbara Lock, wife of Mathis Lock, who were all pioneers that came to the Fountain Valley area and established the Town of Fountain.
