Paid Time Off

The City of Fountain observes the following holidays:

New Year's Day - January 1st
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - January, Third Monday
Presidents' Day - February, Third Monday
Memorial Day - May, Last Monday
Independence Day - July 4th
Labor Day - September, First Monday
Veteran's Day - November 11th
Thanksgiving Day - November, Fourth Thursday
Day after Thanksgiving Day - November, Fourth Friday
Christmas Eve - December 24, half day
Christmas Day - December 25
New Year's Eve - December 31, half day

The City awards regular full-time employees working 40.0 hours per week vacation days, based upon specified length of service:

  • An employee with less than 5 years of service accrues 3.23 hours per payroll (80 hours) with a maximum of 84 hours per year.

  • An employee with more than 5 years of service and less than 10 years accrues 4.62 hours per payroll (80 hours) with a maximum of 120 hours per year.

  • An employee with more than 10 years of service accrues 6.46 hours per payroll (80 hours) with a maximum of 168 hours per year.


The City awards regular full time employees 16 hours of personal time after the completion of 12 months of employment. The hours are awarded on the first of January after completion of the 12 months. Fire Department shift personnel are awarded 24 hours following the above guidelines.

The City awards regular full-time employees that work 40.0 hours per week the accrual of 3.7 hours of sick leave based on 80.0 hours of worked time per payroll. There is no limit on maximum accumulation of sick leave time.

After completing six months of continuous employment, all regular full time employees working 40.0 hours per week, are eligible for up to 10 hours of paid volunteer time off per calendar year. Guidelines are outlined in Employee Handbook.
