NEW CONSTRUCTION INSPECTIONS

All new commercial construction and residential construction with 4 or more units in the same building are required a fire final inspection prior to occupancy. Please call the Fire Prevention Bureau at 719-393-6890 at least 3 business days prior to schedule a Fire Final Inspection.

FIRE INVESTIGATION TEAM
 

 MISSION

The mission of the Fire Investigation Section is to investigate fires in order to determine the origin and cause, to provide follow-up and detailed investigative services, and to identify and apprehend those persons responsible for the commission of arson, and crimes related to arson.

 

GOAL 

The goal of the Fire Investigation Section is to reduce City of Fountain fire incident frequency, monetary loss, and resulting injuries and deaths, by being thorough and competent in the fields of fire prevention and investigation. Conduct a well organized fire investigation program. Conduct routine training in order to improve the ability to accomplish the mission and goals.  Work continuously toward an objective of being the standard of the profession.

 

FIRE INVESTIGATION TEAM

The fire investigation team shall consist of primary fire investigators and assistant fire investigators and a team leader. Primary fire investigators shall be career members of the department. Assistant fire investigators may be career or volunteer members of the department. Members of the fire investigation team shall be appointed by the Fire Chief. The size and structure of the fire investigation team shall be determined by the fire investigation team leader and approved by the Fire Chief.

 

AUTHORITY

Primary members of the fire investigation team are peace officers. (C.R.S. 16-2.5-109) Any fire arson investigator employed by the fire department is a peace officer while engaged in the performance of his or her duties. Fire arson investigators have the primary authority to enforce all laws of the State of Colorado related to arson. (C.R.S. 32-1-1002) The Fire Chief and his designated representatives (Fire Investigators) shall enforce all laws of the State of Colorado and ordinances of the City of Fountain relating to the prevention of fires and the suppression of arson. (Fountain City Ordinance 1152, Fountain Municipal Code 2.10.130) The Fire Chief and his designated representatives (Fire Investigators) shall have the authority to enforce, within the city, all Federal, State and Local laws pertaining to fire, life safety and hazardous materials. The Fire Investigator shall see that the provisions of Federal, State, and Local law are enforced and shall arrest or cause to be arrested any person found violating such laws or who shall hinder, resist or refuse to obey any such officer in the discharge of his/her duty. All Primary Fire Investigators are vested with the usual power and authority of police officers as related to these matters.
